Snap N Eat ("we", "us" or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in Schedule 1 of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act). This Privacy Policy applies to the operation of our AI-powered food tracking application (the "App") and website.
1. Collection of Personal Information (APP 3)
We collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our functions or activities. Personal information includes information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable.
We collect the following types of information:
- Personal Information: When you create an account or make a purchase, we may collect your name, email address, and payment information (processed securely via third-party providers). We collect this information to provide you with access to the App and process transactions.
- Usage Data: We collect information about how you use the App, such as photos uploaded for AI analysis, timestamps, device type, and IP address. This helps us improve the App's performance and user experience.
- Photos and Media: Images you upload for calorie and macro analysis are processed on-device or via secure servers and are not stored unless you explicitly save them to your account. We do not collect sensitive information (as defined in the Privacy Act) without your consent.
- Cookies and Tracking: We use cookies and similar technologies to track analytics and improve functionality. You can manage these via your browser settings.
If you do not provide the personal information we request, we may not be able to provide you with our services.
Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:

2. Use and Disclosure of Personal Information (APP 6)
We only use or disclose personal information for the primary purpose for which it was collected, or a related secondary purpose that you would reasonably expect.
We use your information to:
- Provide and improve the App's features, such as AI-powered photo analysis for nutrition tracking (primary purpose).
- Process transactions and manage your account.
- Send you updates, newsletters, or promotional content (secondary purpose; you can opt out at any time by contacting us or using unsubscribe links).
- Analyze usage to enhance user experience and develop new features (anonymised where possible).
- Comply with legal obligations, such as responding to court orders.
We will not use your personal information for any other purpose without your consent, unless an exception under the Privacy Act applies.
3. Disclosure of Personal Information to Third Parties (APP 6 & APP 8)
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose it to:
- Service providers (e.g., cloud hosting for AI processing, payment processors like Stripe) who are bound by confidentiality agreements and only use the information for the services they provide to us.
- Law enforcement or regulatory authorities if required by Australian law.
- Business partners for aggregated, anonymised analytics (no personal information disclosed).
Your uploaded photos are processed securely and deleted after analysis unless you choose to save them. We do not disclose personal information overseas without taking reasonable steps to ensure it is protected equivalently to the APPs. Our service providers are primarily based in Australia or compliant jurisdictions.
If we disclose information overseas, we will inform you in our Privacy Policy and take steps to protect it.
4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies for essential functions, analytics (via Google Analytics or similar, which may involve overseas disclosure), and personalization. These are used in accordance with APP 6. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may limit App functionality.
5. Security of Personal Information (APP 11)
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure, including encryption, secure servers, and access controls. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. When personal information is no longer needed, we securely destroy or de-identify it.
6. Access and Correction (APP 12 & 13)
You have the right to request access to your personal information we hold and to request its correction if it is inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated.
- Access your personal information (we will respond within a reasonable period, usually 30 days).
- Correct your personal information.
- Opt out of direct marketing communications at any time.
To exercise these rights, contact us at support [at] snapneat.com. We may charge a reasonable fee for access requests. If we refuse access or correction, we will provide reasons in writing.
7. Complaints
If you believe we have interfered with your privacy or breached the APPs, please contact us at support [at] snapneat.com with details of your complaint. We will investigate and respond within 30 days. If unsatisfied, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.
8. Privacy of Children
The App is not intended for children under 15 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental consent. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly in accordance with the Privacy Act.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Changes will be posted here with the updated effective date. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
